A: Yes, let us assure you that this is the same product, though the name of this product has been changed from Candida Pre + Probiotic Enzymes to Gut Flora Health+ Enzymes. We’d love to explain a bit about why we made this change.

While we always try to formulate products to help our customers' needs and wants for their health journeys, we also must stay compliant with the FDA’s regulations in the supplement industry.

Though they do not “approve” supplements, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) monitors and audits manufacturers and sellers of dietary supplements to ensure they are following proper manufacturing, labeling and safety practices. One of the rules that the FDA has in place notes that dietary supplements cannot be promoted as a treatment, prevention, or cure for any specific diseases or conditions. Doing so would result in the supplement being marketed as an unapproved and illegal drug.

Taking this into consideration, since Candidiasis is a fungal infection, we had to reevaluate this product name. Thus, we have renamed this supplement as Gut Flora Health+ Enzymes. Again, we’d like to assure you that we have not made any formulation changes to this product; we have simply renamed it and also updated the product description so that we stay within what is allowed by FDA guidelines.

Q: What is with all the different kinds of enzymes? How do I choose which one to take?

A: Digestive enzymes catalyze digestion, breaking down larger molecules into more easily absorbed particles, thus supporting digestion and nutrient absorption. Different digestive enzymes specialize in the digestion of different molecules, like Lipase, for example, which works to break down fats and fat-containing foods like nuts, meats, dairy products and oils. Consider how your digestion may need support and consult with your physician or healthcare professional to determine which enzyme blend may be best for you.

Q: The units of measurement for the enzymes in this formula are not given. Would you be able to clarify how much of each enzyme is included per dose?

A: When purchasing enzymes, you may notice the units of measurement on the supplement fact panel are not listed in weight, but in units unique to the enzyme (ex: Proteases are measured in HUT, Amylase in DU, Lactase are measured in LacU and so on). The Food Chemical Codex (FCC), which is created by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), establishes the standard measurements for supplements. While most food or nutrients are based on weight, enzymes are measured by units of activity and potency, with no direct correlation between weight and units of activity. All but two of our enzyme products list the enzymes in this way.

Q: Why didn’t you make liquid enzymes?

A: Well, we tried! At first we attempted making our enzymes liquid formulas, but we weren’t able to make it shelf stable. Then we attempted to make a powder that would be mixed into water, but that wasn’t very palatable! Ultimately, we determined that a capsule would have to suffice. We are, however, confident in these capsules, otherwise we wouldn't have made them!
